Good morning Madrid!! The Hostel we were staying at kindly recommended a place to have breakfast, it was very convenient as it was across the road from where we were staying.
Pitty that Spain didn't have laws restricting smoking indoors, so we had to lump it.
The best coffee and croissants here in Madrid! We had to come back here the next day for sure!!
Tine and I headed to a Museum walking distance from our hostel. Real Academia...
The artwork below was a relief work that was so intricate and beautiful!
Tine had developed a fear stuff animals and these sculptures! I couldn't help but laugh and tease her. She was struggling to enter this room, freaking out seeing the detail in this reenactment of terror.
Puerto del Sol, the main square in Madrid... We walked here everyday as it connected all the streets, so it was hard to avoid.
It was funny seeing these tourists in this min car, considering how big they looked...
We returned to St Miguel Food Hall for a feast on 1 Euro Tapas and delicious wine!!
One of many wine stalls here at the Food Hall.... I went back more than once...
Amazing food! I didn't hold back and decided to treat myself and Tine. It was one of a few last trips I had before I had to head back home.. So why not live it up with food and wine!
After a few wines, we decided to walk it off and do more sight-seeing.. Madrid was very colourful..
You can't see it in the picture, but there was a fountain further back and there were homeless people there washing their clothes and making a commotion.. We decided to skip that part.
We were blessed with great weather and I took advantage of the sun!!
We wanted to visited this church, St Francis Church but it was closed unfortunately.
After walking around Madrid, we took a time out. I needed a coffee and Tine wanted dessert.
We finally got to meet up with Jannie and Vi! We kept waking to their hotel waiting for them, but obviously there was a delay. The had missed their train and flight from Barcelona!! Not happy Jan!
So they were starving and we took them to where we had eaten on our first day.
These stuffed mushrooms were amazing!!!
Paella!!! Yummo!
Walked around Plaza De Mayor, which was beautiful in the evening.
As usual, you had to bump into a Filipino while traveling. A Filipino Waiter was encouraging us to eat at one of the restaurants in the Plaza in tagalog and a filo accent. We laughed it off and said "no thank you"..
We walked through Cava Baja and found a cosy bar restaurant to drink and chill at. We ordered wine and later on the best Sangria in SPAIN!!!
Group shot of the happy campers!! Porr Vi-J-J doesn't drink alcohol but had a liking to the sangria...
A real beautiful evening!!
