A Sister-Trip to Spain's Madrid! Thanks again to Ryanair flying us there. We caught the Metro into the city centre. Tine found a Hostel right in the middle of Madrid, called Hostel San Martin. A very small but cosy place.
Most of all the hostels/hotels we've stayed in Europe, they don't really have good elevator systems - so it's good using your legs climbing up the stairs!
Once we settled in and unloaded out belongings, I took charge of navigating us around Madrid. We walked everywhere! I worked us out on the first day! Haha. I didn't want to waste any minute in Madrid. The city was made up of many streets with 'Squares', a central point for meeting places, restaurants, cafes and bars. A real beautiful city!
We were starving and had our late lunch at Museo Del Jamon. We ordered way too much and struggled to finish over 3 dishes! haha. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs!
We ordered assorted meats for entree, mixed seafood platter... sangria of course!
Ow-wee and the the pork belly! The last 2 dishes were oily and we didn't even think how it'll effect us later on.
More walking around and exploring Madrid...
One of many SQUARES...
The SAN MIGUEL HALL of food and wine!!! An delicious place!!!...
The street signs were made of tiles with beautiful typography and illustrations!
...I'm so bad with remembering names... One of many churches in Madrid!...
We needed coffee to wake us up, and you can't go wrong with Spanish Coffee!!! Tine, can you please translate on what to order?! HAHA. I kept relying on her to speak Spanish even though she warned me numerous times that she wasn't fluent! haha. I just love pushing Tine's buttons! haha.
More exploring... and landed at the Art Gallery...we managed to get there in time for the FREE hours... YAY!
So beautiful inside!!!
Dinner time.. We had stayed out all day... Tapas and Sangria.... we were so tired by the time the food arrived on our table. The bad thing I can only complain in Madrid is that people can still smoke inside! :( Not happy Jan!
Delicious Tapas!!! We had been blessed with good weather and the stroll home to the hostel was nice and refreshing!
Goodnight Madrid! See you in the morning!!!
